Floris’ new Cherry Blossom
We’ve all seen photos of those beautiful Japanese cherry blossoms gardens. Hanami (“flower viewing”) is the Japanese traditional custom of enjoying the beauty of flowers, “flower” in this case almost always being cherry blossoms (“sakura”). From the end of March to early May, sakura bloom all over Japan and the blossom forecast is announced each year by the weather bureau (this is all according to Wikipedia yes?).
British brand Floris has launched a new perfume in their Private Collection line, Cherry Blossom, which aims to capture the beauty and ethereal quality of the Japanese hanami tradition. The perfume opens with a sweet cherry blossom note and it wavers through a few costume changes (sweeter cherry, innocent cherry, ripe cherry and then over the hill cherry) until it hits a bed of powdery musk, where it crash lands and makes itself at home for the duration of the drydown. It’s got that feel of grand dame sitting at her vanity table, putting on her pearls and rouging it up.
Eau de parfum 100ml for £99 exclusively sold at Harrods.
